A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF FINANCE AND ACCOUNTS DEPARTMENT.
One of the key department of the Ministry of Works and Transport is the Finance and Accounts Department; whose primary role is to ensure that approved funds for projects are disbursed and the revenue generated by the Ministry and its agencies are remitted besides keeping comprehensive financial records.
The department is made up of three (3) units namely cash unit, payroll unit and revenue unit.
The head of the department coordinates these activities, vets all correspondences within the ministry as it relates to financial matters, supervises all staff in the three units of the department and where need arises directs staff in the department. In addition to this, the Head of Department prepares bank reconciliation statements, monitor the internally generated revenue performance indices and in conjunction with relevant departments prepare annual and supplementary budgets for the ministry.
