Welcome to the Official website of the Ebonyi State Ministry Of Works and Transport, Abakaliki.

The Ministry of Works and Transport is subdivided into five functional Departments. The divisions are for administrative convenience and for the delivery of policy thrust of the Ministry. The Departments includes, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Planning Research and Statistics, Finance and Accounts and finally Administrative Department.
These Departments are manned by highly trained and professionally competent personnel employed and posted to the Ministry by the Civil Service Commission of Ebonyi State. To facilitate work in the ministry, the State Government under the leadership of Engr. David Nweze Umahi equally procured road construction equipment in addition to conducive office environment for optimal performance.

The Broad Objectives Of The Ministry Is To Construct, Reconstruct And Rehabilitate Urban And Rural Roads In Ebonyi State. To Achieve The Above Objectives

Engr. Umahi started his secondary education at Ishiagu High School in 1978 and in 1979, transferred to the prestigious Government Secondary School, Afikpo, where he completed his secondary education and passed his WASC Examinations in Division 1 grade with excellent Alpha performances in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Statistics, Physics and Chemistry. While in Government Secondary School Afikpo, young Dave was made a Library Prefect. This was predicated on his academic exploits in spite of the fact that the tradition in the school was that only students who started in class 1 were qualified to hold any position in the school such as School Prefect.

In the quest for higher education, the young but hardworking Dave got admission into the Anambra State University of Science

fnse,fnate governor of Ebonyi state. The present administration under the able leadership of His Excellency, Engr. (Chief) David Nweze Umahi (FNSE, FNATE) has continued on it’s campaign promises to ensure that all parts of the state especially the hinterlands where all agricultural products are massively harnessed are well connected with good roads and modern bridges. The vision of making Ebonyi state the N0.1 economy through modern agricultural practices, industrial revolution, total transformation and human empowerment could only be feasible through extensive road construction, reconstruction and connecting communities to the urban areas where there is already competitive market. The Ministry of Works and Transport whose sole responsibility is to implement the programmes and policies of His Excellency, on road construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation of roads and bridges all over the state has through the constant directive and supervision of His Excellency, and in accordance with the state budget as approved by the Ebonyi State House of Assembly embarked on strict adherence to these policies and programmes. The first two years of this administration witnessed tremendous programmes of rehabilitation of roads and completed over 150km roads within the capital city and over 300km on-going, in the 13 LGA’s while the construction of three major flyovers at 3 different strategic locations in the state capital which one has fully been completed while other two (2) have attained 95% completion. The construction of the three water fountains at Udensi Roundabout, Government House Roundabout and the Abacha Roundabout are completed and greatly enhanced the beauty of the state capital with the healthy adjourning roads. The hinterlands have also received a boast as the 15km roads each promised by His Excellency, Engr. (Chief) David Nweze Umahi, for the 13 LGAs has already commenced and is at different stages of completion, 75% of these roads are on 200mm on concrete which is first of its kind in this nation. The total sum for these projects is above 50 Billion Naira while about 20 Billion Naira has been certified. Most of these roads and bridges are attached herewith.
